Motivation:Köberle: The first surgeon who adapted Pasteur´s teachings, and already in the 1860´s (before Lister) tried to create an aseptic surgical environment by disinfecting surfaces, washing hands, boiling instruments and using dry towels to wipe up blood. R. Koch: Of great importance for surgery through his work on bacteriological methods, identification of many strains of bacteria and methods of disinfection.
